Welcome to the seventh season of South Country Concerts – Bellport’s very own classical music series.

This season promises to be as exciting as ever…an eclectic mix of programs featuring clarinet, harp, strings and piano. As always we present world-class artists who establish a lively rapport with the audience through their informative narratives and passionate performances.

Germanic Giants

Brahms: Andantino from Trio in A minor
Mozart: Concert Rondo for Clarinet
Finzi: Three Bagatelles
Beethoven: Trio for Clarinet, Cello & Piano

Mozart composed extensively for the clarinet, a tradition continued by Beethoven and Brahms in their chamber music with cello and piano. Naomi Drucker, often guest with the New York Philharmonic, joins us.

Saint-Saëns: Fantasie for Violin & Harp

Amy Beach: Three Songs for Violin & Harp
Bartok: Rumanian Dances

Violinist Renée Jolles, from New York’s Orpheus Ensemble, and Susan Jolles harpist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Naumberg Prize winner will dazzle us with audience favorites.

Beethoven: Variations on Mozart’s “Magic Flute”
Ravel: Sonata for Violin & Piano
Brahms: Quartet No. 1 for Piano & Strings

Beethoven was inspired by the magic of Mozart’s operatic melody, Ravel by American jazz and Brahms by Hungarian gypsies.

We introduce the soaring sound of the trumpet to our series. Saint-Saëns’ thrilling septet is paired with the familiar energy of the Baroque Trumpet Sonata. Inspired by nature Schubert’s Trout Quintet illustrates the sublime beauty of melody.
