Teaching Policies
Regular
attendance at lessons is vitally necessary for rapid and consistent
progress. The scheduling of lessons commits the teacher’s
time each week to work individually with you.
If
you are unable to make this commitment it is preferable to give
the space to a student who will. Therefore only two lessons per
semester (with 24 hour advance notice) may be missed without payment.
It may be possible to reschedule or make-up lessons missed because
of sports, after school activities, parties or other social events,
transportation problems, or work schedules by alerting the teacher
as soon as possible when a conflict arises, however last minute
(less than 24 hours notice) cancellations, extended vacations (including
ending the year early), or forgetting a lesson, will not be excused
and must be paid for. Make-up lessons are expected for cancellations
due to illness or inclement weather.
Successful
and rewarding music study depends on sufficient and consistent daily
practice. Each student will be given appropriate practice goals
and assignments. Most children will need parental guidance in organizing
their time to accomplish these goals and should receive encouragement
and support in establishing good practice habits. Preparation is
essential for success.
